ITINERARY

Friday 3rd may, 2024, sail from Portsmouth to Santander, depart at 22.30, so no need to take a day off work. Land in Santander at 08.00 on Sunday.

Sunday 5th, ready for a full days ride to Riano, some great roads, including the classic N625, I love that road, it's just brilliant and a classic biking road. About 140 miles.

Monday 6th. Leaving Riano we head south west skirting round Leon and Zamora before crossing the border into Portugal, we'll be spending the night at a lovely Pousada in the Douro national Park. Around 180 miles, nearly five hours riding.

Tuesday 7th. Continuing south west through the Douro National Park, with twists and turns aplenty, we arrive at our southernmost point in Portugal, Covilha near to the highest point in Portugal. Time to soak those bones in the swimming pool before dinner. 155 miles, 4.25 hours riding.

Wednesday 8th. Shortly after leaving the hotel we will stop at the Torre de Sella Estrada, the highest point in Portugal before heading north through Manteigas and a chance to get to grips with a whole series of hairpins, then we head north west and eventually pick up the N2, often referred to as "Portugal's Route 66". The southern part of the N2 is fairly gentle but gets more twisty as we head north until we arrive at our five star hotel and spa.

Thursday 9th. We continue north on the N2 past Vila Pouca de Aguar, I much prefer the northern half, more technical riding and twistier! Another delightful Parador this evening with a swimming pool. 143 miles, four and a half hours riding.

Friday 10th. Pushing on today, we'll cover about 178 happy miles, eventually returning to the Picos and on to Riano again, where we will be staying. The roads around it and the lake views are truly stunning and the lake is always so blue, as though someone has dyed it.

Saturday 11th. The first part of the day is spent in the Picos before we leave it heading east through the hills and mountains to our luxurious four star hotel with indoor and outdoor pools for our last night in Spain.

Sunday 12th. After a good breakfast and perhaps a swim, it's a short hop to the port for our 14.00 hours ferry back to Portsmouth, arriving on Monday the 13th.

Cost for one rider and pillion, one motorcycle, sharing a room is £2985. Cost for one rider, one bike, single use of double rooms and cabins is £2385.
