Twisty mountain roads, tight, steep valleys and majestic sweeping vistas, snow capped mountains.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE RIDE.

So, why should you choose Love Motorbike Touring.com? There are lots of other companies to choose from.

I love to tour. I like the freedom of the open road, especially on the Continent, the road surfaces are generally much better and so is the weather. Sun on my back, miles of road to explore, never quite knowing what's around the next corner. Who will I meet, where will I stay, what's the food like? Twisty mountain roads, tight, steep valleys and majestic sweeping vistas, snow capped mountains, huge lakes and rivers. It's just all a perpetual delight to me. I often lead rides for TVAM, (Thames Valley Advanced Motorcyclists) part of the IAM (Insitute of Advanced Motorists) here in the UK and enjoy those but touring in Europe ( or the UK ) trumps it.

And I want you to get the same out of your tour. Free time, holiday, call it what you will is tight for most people, you need to make the most of it. When you take a tour with me, you're going to get great roads and meticulous planning, individual, sometimes quirky hotels and a lot of fun. Some days you may feel stretched a bit, that's good, it extends your capabilities, other days are more relaxed.

Small group tours, never more than eight 'bikes plus me, mean I make far less money out of a tour than a larger, fifteen or twenty rider group. (I am prepared to run a tour with only two or three riders if necessary) It also means you get more individual attention. With a large group it can take an hour just to get a coffee, let alone lunch. Riding small, we can stop at little roadside boulangeries and cafes that the large tours have to pass, so we get a more authentic experience. If you need to find fifteen bedrooms, your hotel options are limited. I only need to find a maximum of nine, so I can use private individual hotels and paradours that would be too small for the large operators, in small villages and rural locations along the route, not large chain hotels in cities. A chance to mingle with and absorb the local culture and food if you wish.

What is the most important thing in a tour? It's different for everyone, but for me, it has to be the roads first, touring is all about the ride, I want challenging, interesting roads that stretch me as a rider, not all the time, that's too tiring, but for a good part of the day. Next I want great scenery, I want to breathe clean mountain air see stunning views, be excited every time I crest a hill or round a fast sweeping bend, I want to be surprised and delighted.

Then it comes to hotels, comfortable, preferably close to the original route, so we don't have to make big detours at the end of the day when we're tired. With restaurants close at hand, plenty of hot water and good parking for the bikes, good food, good company and a good night's sleep.

I like to be on the road, wheels turning at nine am. That gives us plenty of time to ride for four to five hours, stop for photos, coffee ( and cakes), lunch etc and still get to our hotel for the evening in good time. If the weather is going to be very hot, then if the group as a whole agrees, we can leave really early to take advantage of the cool of the morning.

To ride a road as fast as I can, I have to be totally focussed on the road, ignoring everything else. When I tour, I want to be able to take in what's around me, it's about the experience in all it's parts, not a race. I want the pace to be at times stimulating, at others more relaxed and at the end of the day, it's YOUR tour, not mine, so you can set it, to get the most enjoyment out of YOUR tour.

I look forward to meeting you soon for an adventure together.
